Fictional INTJs: Real vs Fake (Part Two)

In my previous entry I addressed the issue on fake fictional INTJs, such as Dexter Morgan, Walter White and Tywin Lannister. Personally, I'm a bit offended that these fakers are labeled as INTJ. You see, being an INTJ is a unique experience, and not many deserve the pleasure to be hailed as such.

Being an INTJ is like being sincere: everyone likes sincerity, until they meet someone who actually is sincere. I guess that's why Dexter and Morgan can give the impression of being (or start as) INTJ but eventually their characters are tuned down and humanized as their series progresses. But make no mistake: an INTJ never humanizes. NEVER.

Having that said, I will now share a few true examples of fictional INTJs, starting with...

Light Yagami

If you recall my previous entry, I made a lot of emphasis on the fact that INTJs have a certain characteristic that is known as "The Death Stare", which is our intimidating way of looking at people (and the world). I mentioned that, while I agreed that both Dexter and Walter had "The Death Stare", their actions didn't always follow suit with it, which resulted in a huge contradiction between their characters thoughts and their personalities (IE. Walter hanging out with Jessee, Dexter choosing Rita as a partner).

That doesn't happen with Light Yagami.

In fact, if you were to summarize the epitome of an INTJ fictional character, one of the candidates would be Light Yagami. In a crucial scene in which the mastermind plan developed by Light worked out exactly as he had planned it, Light takes a moment and thinks to himself "exactly as planned".

That is a true INTJ.

You may argue that Light hung out with Misa Amane and made her his girlfriend, drawing a bit of similarity between Dexter and Rita's relationship. However, if you do that, then you are missing the obvious: Light made Misa his girlfriend, only because he needed to include that step as part of his plan. He couldn't care less if Misa lived or died, he just played on falling in love with her so that he could have complete control over her. Light is ruthless, cold-blooded, has a great poker face, is expression-less and more important than anything... he beat L.

I've seen a few minor websites that misclassify Light as ENTJ or even INTP. Those websites have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Light is an INTJ and that's that.

Gendou Ikari

If you ever wondered how Light Yagami would have turned as an adult, all you have to do is watch Evangelion and you will immediately agree that Gendo Ikari is the adult version of Light Yagami.

Gendo is far more ruthless, way more cold-blooded, and plain and simply said, superior in every other aspect that Light Yagami lacks experience or knowledge, and it's not that Light is short on anything; it's just that Gendo has way more mileage than Light.

So where do I start? Gendo sacrifices his wife, couldn't care less about his son -flodding him with blood in order to kill one of his classmates-, sleeps with his CIO, then makes her commit suicide (indirectly, but still), than sleeps with his CIO's daugther, all of this in order to achieve his plans. And that is just the beginning...

As a person, he makes complicated decisions in a matter of seconds and every time, the decision taken is always the right one -whether if you or anyone else likes it or not-. He forsees every possible outcome of any potential decision, he manipulates everyone and everything around him, he doesn't lose any sweat, he's always calm, he just sits there monitoring progress of his plan to become a God and achieve World Domination.

That is a true INTJ.

Bat-Man / Bruce Wayne

Here I will make a special consideration: I'm strictly referring to the comic book Batman.

Now first things first: The Death Stare

There it is, beautiful. There you have it.

Now that being said, comic book Batman/Bruce Wayne, doesn't do anything without a fully developed strategy. Everything is thought through and nothing is left to chance, and even if it is, he has a contingency for it.

Nolan's Batman suffers from the same fate Dexter and Walter suffer. It seems like at times he's an INTJ but then something happens to him that contradicts his thoughts and actions (as an INTJ). I think Nolan's Batman is more like an INFJ or ISTJ. Burton's probably the same, and I won't even comment on Adam West's.

Michael and Vito Corleone

Both Corleone father and son are true and 100% accurate examples of an INTJ. As a matter of fact, if you were to pit Michael against Vito in an all-in full-scale war, I don't know who would win. In fact, I think the whole world would lose until the two of them are the only remaining survivors on the planet.

What is there to say that hasn't been said? Both of them would kill their mothers or wives if they had to. The threatning and intimidating aura you get from just being around them is more menacing than walking next to a nuclear bomb with a bag full of plutonium.

There are so many memorable INTJ steal-the-scene moments to mention between Michael and Vito, it's very very hard to pick just one. Yet, I will always have that one that stands as my favorite:

I mean, who else can get a landlord to lower a rent from a six-month payment in advance to $10 without saying a single word, using nothing but the "Death Stare"?

Only an INTJ.

What about female fictional INTJs?

Well, honestly I haven't seen one either on TV or movies.

A friend of mine mentioned that Jamie Moriarty (from Elementary) may be an INTJ, but I haven't really watched the series, so I can't speak yet on it. I'll watch a couple of episodes and verify whether if the claim is true or not.

Other than her, I want to clearify that

Katniss Everdeen
Elizabeth Hawke
Clarice Starling
Nora Gainesborough
Miranda Lawson

and also

Count Dooku
General Grievous
Lex Luthor
Serverus Snape
Lucien
Matt Murdock

are NOT INTJ.
